August Asphalt

Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenberg & Edgar Meyer-Big Bug Shuffle

June and July don’t do it for me.  I’m about the other 5/6ths of the year.  I think it’s because there is too much pressure to do stuff outside during those two month, what with living in a system that has four seasons.  I love being outdoors, but I don’t like this all summer’s in two months stuff.  Some days I want to be stuffed in a closet.

So I am always happy when August comes along.  The sun is slightly south.  Green from the trees leans toward ashiness, slightly weary.  And this has been a weary summer.  Weary, humid, and a constant nostalgia that is usually
reserved for the winter months.

These late summer, early autumn months make me think of road trips.  Chicago to Madison. Santa Fe to Durango.  All over southern Wisconsin.

This song reminds me of driving down US 285 in Colorado, between Monte Vista and Saguache.  Driving in the southwest is no chore at all.

About SamP

I like to be creative and have fun. Genghis Khan would spare all the artisans when he would conquer a city. That is my goal; to be enslaved into creating monuments to our future alien overlords, and not slaughtered by them.
